As August draws closer, anticipation and excitement continues to build for a memorable week celebrating automotive excellence, heritage, and the people who make this community so special. In this edition we're proud to announce the participation of ASI President Alberto Scuro, introduce our 2026 nonprofit partners, spotlight our Ducati and Vespa displays, and introduce you to one of the world’s fastest motorcycles, the one that held the record of 245.667 mph.

AT THE PADDOCK: ONE OF THE WORLD’S FASTEST MOTORCYCLE

Industrial designer, Alex Tremulis, was best known for his work ranging from the Auburn‑Cord‑Duesenberg classics to the 1948 Tucker and Ford concept cars. In the mid-1960s, Tremulis teamed with Detroit racer, Bob Leppan, and motorcycle builder, Jim Bruflodt, to create a streamlined land‑speed motorcycle, named the Gyronaut X‑1.

In 1966, this streamlined land-speed motorcycle set a world record of 245.667 mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats. We’re thrilled to have it displayed Friday night at The Paddock Monterey.

2026 NONPROFIT SPOTLIGHTS

We're proud to welcome the Piston Foundation as one of International Car Week's 2026 Select Nonprofits, celebrating a shared commitment to the future of the collector car hobby.

Through scholarships, mentorship, hands-on training, and career support, Piston Foundation helps young enthusiasts build careers as collector car technicians. For the first time, Piston Scholars will join us at The Paddock Monterey on August 14th and Concorso Italiano on August 15th.

At Concorso Italiano, the scholars will participate in the judging by presenting the Piston Foundation Next Generation Award to a standout vehicle on the show field.

Click here to hear Piston Scholar, Cameron Maguire, from Monterey, who is pursuing a career in the collector car industry. Cameron's passion for vintage automobiles, and the supportive collector car community, inspired him to pursue hands-on restoration work.

Joining our 2026 Local Nonprofits is The Mid-Coast Fire Brigade, a volunteer organization providing year-round fire protection, emergency medical response, rescue services, and wildfire support to the Mid Coast community. Every firefighter volunteers their time—responding to emergencies, training year-round, and serving their neighbors without compensation.

Donations directly help equip and support these dedicated volunteers, ensuring they can continue providing critical life-saving services to the community and visitors alike.

A Mid-Coast Fire Brigade fire engine will be on display at both events—be sure to stop by!

We're proud to welcome back All-In Monterey County as a 2026 Local Nonprofit and recipient of a portion of donations from our events.

Based in Marina, All-In Monterey County supports local families year-round through weekly food, clothing, and essentials distributions, disaster response, and community outreach. Be sure to stop by and say hello to their volunteers at both The Paddock Monterey and Concorso Italiano.
